“I thank you”. “I am grateful”. “I am indebted to
you”. “I will
always remember this”. These are the sweet endearing words
that impoverished students in Vietnam
on the other side of the Pacific Ocean have sent
us. Their words reflected the joyous testimonials of many children who
have discovered that they could indeed live the dream of carrying books
to a school setting where their lives can finally thrive.
During this holiday season, with Thanksgiving,
Christmas, and the New Year quickly approaching, it is especially
appropriate to remember these expressions of gratitude, hope and
happiness. All of us here at the
South Bay Vietnamese Cultural Center send to you our sincere thanks and
deep gratitude on behalf of the children – these underprivileged
students living in the rural part of the beloved country of Vietnam -
who will continue to blossom because of the sacrifice and generosity
that you have shown them in the past years.
In the academic year of 2005-2006, SBVCC had sent
scholarships to 260 young students in cities ranging from Bui Chu to Ha Tien. There are very many applications
still withstanding, but the resources we have are limited. We sincerely ask that you open your
heart to help these young and eager children who still hope and dream
because of your generosity.
If everyday you could put aside 10 to 15 cents to
contribute to the scholarship fund, you could drastically change the
entire life of a child who will one day become a capable, skilled and
effective citizen of Vietnam!
The flourishing and wondrous results from the work that we are doing
together depend on your generosity and kindness. Besides the scholarship program that
was previously described, SBVCC is still supporting and providing
resources for other charitable programs, such as helping the
impoverished, the elderly, the orphans, as well as funding First-Aid
sites in Vietnam. However, we can only assist with
these needs according to our resources and abilities.
The pictures provided in the next few pages portray
the results of your support and generosity.
Finally, SBVCC prays that you and your loved ones
will be blessed with good fortune, health, happiness, and peace during
this Thanksgiving and Christmas season, and throughout the New Year.
We hope that you will continue to support this program and work
together with us to persist in bringing hope, happiness, and the
promise of a future to those who are so much less fortunate than
us.
Again, we thank you and are sincerely grateful for
your contribution and support in nurturing the dreams and missions that
we are seeking to fulfill.
